This is not a day care or playgroup. This is a small group preschool experience where children are continually introduced to learning concepts to prepare him or her for future school experiences. There is special attention in this small setting to social skills such as making friends, learning to share, learning how to take turns, learning how to speak with respect to friends and adults to communicate wants and using problem solving skills. These social skills are taught both directly and then indirectly during the free playtime each session.

Our curriculum will include phonics, reading, writing, math, science and Spanish as well as a perceptual motor skills development plan. Children will be given both individual as well as whole group instruction and also participate in learning labs based on the theme or a specific skill. Themes will vary each year so returning students can experience new concepts and learning can be exciting. The core phonic curriculum will continue to use the ABC Twiggles phonic curriculum along with BOB books for all students and SAM books for pre-kinders.
Children will be assessed throughout the program and conferences and feedback related to your child's development will be provided. I will encourage parents to be partners in their child's learning and communicate ways to encourage reinforcing "school" skills at home. All children will be using letter rings to help practice letter names and sounds. Letter rings will also include phonics words and site words for some children when they show signs of readiness. Bob Books, letter of the week books, SAM books or other reader books will also be sent home weekly as part of the reading preparation for kindergarten.

When I was looking for a preschool option for my girls, I was a SAHM and in many ways I was homeschooling my girls for preschool. I wished for an option that would support my philosophy AND provide them with an opportunity to learn in a fun yet structured environment separate from me. I felt they only really needed this one day a week since we were having so much learning together at home.
I wanted to stay committed to offering a quality preschool option for those families who really only want to send their child to preschool for one day a week. After having my preschool for a year one day a week, I realize other families would love more options for learning for their children. Next year I will have more choices. I hope you find one that fits your educational goals for your child.
For those of you considering only 1 day a week, here are my thoughts:
Why only 1 day a week?
I am hoping there are other moms/families in the San Tan Valley area looking for this option for whatever reason.
My Time & More Preschool is a unique setting where children can build a strong foundation in core areas such as science, history or geography and then also phonics and math. Each session also provides motor skills assessment and development curriculum as well as a Spanish lesson.
We will be meeting for 3 hours on preschool days (8:30-11:30am).
I am committed to preparing pre-kinders for kindergarten, especially in phonics and early reading skills. (There is a tab on my blog about our reading program.) I also offer Spanish, a motor skills curriculum, science, art & writing labs. We have calendar time and circle time as well. We also practice school skills and social skills such as raising hands to speak, taking turns, lining up in a straight line for outside, washing hands before eating, playing the sharing game, using please and thank you and role playing how to make friends and how to solve problems.
When I am not doing my preschool, I am active in San Tan Valley MOMS Club, I nanny for a family in San Tan Valley, I volunteer in my girls' school and I substitute teach when I am available. I am very patient and passionate about helping children grow and giving them experiences and a learning environment that is as fun and as dynamic as they are.
Please let me know if you have any further questions I can answer or if you wish to meet me and see my preschool.
